I got a sewing machine last Christmas from Spool of Thread. It’s one of those fancy digital sewing machines with a top loading bobbin. I LOVE the top loading bobbin. It’s so much easier to thread the machine this way than the front loading bobbin. Anyways, a friend asked me to make a small ring pillow for her so after researching online for pillow ideas, I made this round ring pillow:
I got the fabric from Spool of Thread and followed the tutorial from Sew Homegrown’s Gather Your Roses Pillow. Since my friend is planning to put the pillow inside a small bird’s nest decoration, I’ve made the pillow round instead of square. Instead of a pillow form, I stuffed the inside with some polyester stuffing that I had for making stuffed animals. I like the pleats as it adds dimension to the pillow. The real challenge for this pillow was creating the “rose” in the middle. The pillow is so small that it’s a bit hard to work with.
Here’s what the pillow looks like from the side:
I can’t wait to see how it looks like once it sits in the bird’s nest!
