Here’s the first of a bunch of highlights from my Japan trip which took place between November 28 to Dec 7, 2013. First we’ll start with Tokyo Tower. On Saturday Nov 29 (local time), we arrived in the Narita Airport in the afternoon. After sending our larger luggages by carrier to our final destination (Sapporo, Hokkaido), getting our JR Passes and picking up our portable WiFi device, it was almost 5pm. We took the N’EX train to Shibuya for quick shopping trip before dinner. Our first meal in Japan was yakiniku (grilled meat). I was actually quite tired so I didn’t eat too much (I didn’t take photos either!) but everything was delicious.
The next morning, we went to Tokyo Tower. This is the only sightseeing place we went to in Tokyo, since we are planning to take the 2pm train to our next location. The weather was gorgeous that day (see the photo above). We didn’t pay to go to the top of the tower, instead we went around each floor to check out all the food and specialty stores. Most of the food places, especially stores that sell edible omiyage (souvenirs), almost always have samples of their products. We basically ate our way around Tokyo Tower *heehee*.
I wish we had more time to really look around and try out all the different snacks / food. There are also a lot of omiyage that are only sold at the Tokyo Tower. But since we are basically backpacking our way up to Sapporo, I only purchased the bacon jerky and pork jerky (see photos below) as they won’t take up much space or add much weight to my luggage. Next time I will definitely buy more souvenirs!
[Bacon Jerky from little Cheese Garden – Soooooo yummy!]
[Pork Jerky from little Cheese Garden – If you are only going to buy one, get the bacon jerky.]
[Tokyo Banana – Chocolate Banana Cream flavor – I think this is only available at the Tokyo Tower.]
Here are more photos from Tokyo Tower. If you go to Tokyo Tower, then you must go to Mr. Donut’s Pon de Lion‘s store. I’ll post about this next so stay tuned!
