The weather was so nice over the BC Day long weekend that it would be a shame to stay indoors. So on Saturday, we took Bandit to the Farmers Market by Trout Lake to see if we can bump into Chey again. We did but we did get to meet a pair of Shiba Inu siblings. They didn’t get to play but did do a proper greeting. Bandit also got a chance to take a dip by the lake. He’s not crazy about water and hates it when we try to give him a bath. But when he saw other dogs playing by the lake, his curiosity took over and he put his little paws in the water for the first time. He didn’t stay in there for too long though. It seemed like he wasn’t quite sure what to do when he’s in the water.
After Trout Lake, we went to the Powell Street Festival. It was packed with people and kids. Unlike Canada Day where Bandit got scared from the noised and the crowd, he did much better this time. We stayed by the playground to have lunch and he didn’t mind kids coming up to greet him. Bandit was also very cooperative when it came to photography. We were stopped many times by people who either wanted to greet him or wanted to take a photo of him because he’s cute.
On Sunday we took Bandit to Steveston. We had a picnic lunch at the area by the Britannia Heritage Shipyard. It was a beautiful day and there were a lot of people walking towards the market. I’ve never been to the Britannia Heritage Shipyard before. It’s a neat little place for photoshoot so I’ll need to come back here with my T3. We drive over to the market after lunch since the distance is too much for Bandit and had fun walking around town, eating frozen yogurt and checking out the catches from the fishing boats. Bandit behaved very well, and he seems to be obeying the “wait” command quite well when we need to cross the street.
In the evening we usually take Bandit over to the off leash park. With the nice weather there were more people at the park than usual. One night we saw a pair of Shiba Inu siblings (both girls this time) who were adopted from Edmonton. The owner said that they were 9 years old and had only arrived here for about 4 days. I’m secretly hoping that he lives close by so we’ll get to bump into the Shibas again.
Over all, we had a great weekend. I am starting to feel that our daily lives are back to normal, with the exception of planning around Bandit’s potty and meal times. We can pretty much take him anywhere now which works well since it also forces us to go outside and spend some time away from our computers.
Here are the rest of the photos. Enjoy!
